How to Set up Your Home Theater for Maximum Sound Quality

You invest in a high quality sound system, but you are not getting the sound you expect from it. It can change your entire experience watching your TV when you don’t get the quality of sound you prefer. Rather than wasting your money on a home theater, you need to make sure you are doing everything you can to allow the theater to produce quality sound. Here are some steps you should take to improve it.

Adjust the Speaker Location

There is no question that your speakers play a major role in the sound quality from your home theater. You want to be sure that you provide every opportunity for the sound to come out at a reasonable quality from your speakers. This means, you will need to adjust them as necessary. Since you may have several sets of speakers, it is important to understand how each set should be facing. The front speakers should always be facing towards the center of the room. This allows the most sound to cover the room. The surround speakers should be angled towards the viewing area of the room. This will allow the sound to go directly to the viewers. If you have a center channel, you want to make sure it goes either above or below the TV in order to produce the best quality.

Calibrate Your Receiver

If your home theater is on the newer side, chances are there are some calibration controls available. This will allow you to adjust the sound as needed. Some have automatic calibration controls, while others allow you to do it manually. Both are great when it comes to getting the right sound. The automatic controls may not be exactly what you like so the manual calibration method will allow you to tailor the sound to your needs.

Other Settings

You should be able to see a Pure mode on your receiver. This allows you to get a direct circuit to your receiver. Many times when you are playing music, you will get some interference due to your circuitry. The sound should then come out clearer. You also want to dial in to your subwoofer. This will give you those loss bass notes you may need when listening to certain types of music. In order to do this, you want to adjust your cross over settings. You want to make sure you don’t add too much bass or it can come out a little blurry. It is important to find the right balance to get the best sound quality.

Placing a new home theater system into any room requires attention to detail. You can’t just set it up and forget about it. You won’t be getting the most out of your equipment. Instead, you have to try different controls to get the right balance of sound. You also want to make sure you set it up towards the center of the room. This will allow everyone a better chance to hear it clearer.
